Help Young Children and Families Build Literacy and Prepare for Kindergarten
In conjunction with their annual Day of Action book drive, the United Way of Champaign County is collecting items for their Read. Talk. Play. EVERY DAY kits. These kits help parents and young children love to read and learn together. This fosters a healthy social-emotional foundation in the child which is critical for future success. The United Way’s goal is to fill 1,000 kits to be given to young children in our community.
Rogards is happy to be supporting this campaign to encourage kindergarten readiness and early literacy by donating items needed to make up the kits, and we would like to invite you to help us help the United Way. There are three ways you can take part:
Collect.
The United Way is collecting the following items (new, unused items only): construction paper, crayons (16 count boxes), safety scissors, glue sticks, washable markers (8 count boxes), pencils, wide ruled writing tablets, and 3 x 5 index cards.
If your business wants to collect items but doesn’t know how you’ll get them to one of the collection points, let us know. Our drivers will be glad to pick up your collection items when we make your next supply delivery. We also have a donation box in our store. You can stop by and drop off items on the wish list any time during store hours.
Donate.
Add a monetary donation to your order today and we’ll use those funds to purchase needed items AT COST and include them along with our own donation to the cause. Just ask to donate to the United Way campaign when placing your order by phone or fax or search for “United Way donation” when placing your order online.
Join the Day of Action book drive.
Donate your new or gently used children’s books to the Day of Action book drive on Wednesday, June 21. United Way will be collecting books at 404 W Church St in Champaign from 8:00am – 5:00 pm.
